The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 24 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 259.1p per kg and an average of 220.9p, while 27 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 260p and levelled at 234.3p.
Thirteen store, B&W bullocks sold to 191.9p and averaged 168.3p.
There were also thirty beef-breeding cattle that sold to £1800 for a heifer with calf-at-foot.
John Swan Ltd sold 62 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 252p and an average of 222.5p (+4.4p on the week), while 26 prime bullocks peaked at 243p and levelled at 224.3p (+4.3p).
In the rough ring 43 beef-type cows averaged 138.9p (+0.1p).
The firm also sold 1770 prime lambs to a top of £89 per head and 187p per kg to average £68 and 160p (+1p).
The 754 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £105 for a Texel and average £77, while light ewes peaked at £77 for Cheviots and levelled at £64.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 13 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 235.5p and an average of 210.3p (-4.5p), while 22 prime bullocks peaked at 226.5p and levelled at 214.8p (+11.2p). Forty prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 234.5p and averaged 198.6p (+5.9p), while 63 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 195.5p and levelled at 149.8p (-3.6p).
In the rough ring 150 beef cows averaged 139.8p (-5.9p) and 258 dairy cows levelled at 106.8p (-1.4p). Eleven bulls averaged 138.3p (+14.4p).
The firm also sold 2043 prime lambs to a top of £90 and 204.3p to average 161.6p (-3p).
The 145 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £126 for Texels, while light ewes peaked at £74 for Hill Cheviots.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd had 1960 prime lambs forward at Ayr yesterday which included a large proportion over 45kg that dragged the average price down on the week. Top prices on the day were £82 and 181.4p with the final average levelling at 153.1p (-7.1p).
There were also 854 cast sheep on offer when over-fat ewes met a similar trade to last week while leaner ones were sharper. Ewes sold to £138 for Texels and £67 for Blackfaces.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 19 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 255p and an average of 236.5p (+1.2p), while 11 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 237p and levelled at 223p (+0.6p). Fifteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 189p and averaged 160.2p (+0.3p).
In the rough ring 33 beef cows averaged 129.5p (-0.6p) and 50 dairy cows levelled at 102.6p (-0.5p). Three bulls averaged 100.1p.
The firm also sold 1505 prime lambs to a top of £85 and 202.4p to average 155.5p (-9p).
