United Auctions sold 11,838 store and breeding sheep at Stirling on Monday. Top prices and averages for selected breeds of store lambs: Suffolks to £61.50 and averaged £55.87 (+£2.55 on the week); Texels £64 and £53.63 (+£3.21); CheviotXs £55 and £50.44 (+£1.62); Scotch Mules £54 and £49.09 (+£3.59); Blackfaces £55 and £40.35 (-90p).

The firm also sold 318 Lleyn females to a top of £410 for a pen of gimmers and an average of £149.28, while 32 Lleyn rams peaked at 900gns and levelled at £393.04.

A nice show of 59 pedigree Zwarbles saw females sell to 750gns for a gimmer and average £286.36, while rams peaked at 600gns and levelled at £406.87.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 14 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 258p per kg and an average of 239.6p (+0.2p on the week), while 5 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 233p and levelled at 208.1p (-2.8p). Eleven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 163.5p and averaged 152.1p (+2.4p).

In the rough ring 61 beef cows averaged 128.5p (-1.1p) and 40 dairy cows levelled at 96.6p (-2.2p).

The firm also sold 2498 prime lambs to a top of £83.50 per head and 188.6p per kg to average 150.9p (+3.4p).

The 842 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £129.50 for a Texel and £52.50 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £50.58.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2540 prime lambs at Ayr on Monday to a top of £86 and 178.6p to average 147.8p (+1.1p).

A larger show of 1121 cast sheep saw all classes sharper on the week with ewes selling to £114.50 for a pen of Texels and Blackfaces to £63.50, and the overall average levelling at £51.98 (+£2.94).

The firm went on to sell 10 prime heifers at the same venue yesterday to a top of £1345.50 per head and 235p per kg to average £1221.56 and 227.8p, while 4 prime bullocks peaked at £1100.75 and 185p to level at £1024.26 and 179.3p. Nine prime bulls sold to £1344.20 and 190p to average £994.13 and 175.3p.

In the rough ring 89 beef cows averaged 125.2p and 131 dairy cows levelled at 93.4p. Fourteen bulls averaged 119p.

There were also 18 dairy cattle forward that sold to £1800 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and averaged £1349.

Wallets Marts sold 2254 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £78 and 176.7p to average 150.5p (+2.3p).

There were also 451 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £102 for a Beltex, £67.50 for Mules and £51 for Blackfaces.
