C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 19 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 196.2p per kg and an average of 176.3p (-15p on the fortnight), while 40 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 235p and levelled at 198.4p (+2.2p). Twelve store, B&W bullocks sold to 160p and averaged 120.2p (-12.6p).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1334 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £86 per head and 180.4p per kg to average 150.2p (-8.4p on the week).

The firm also had 456 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £84.50 for a pen of Texels and £51.50 for Blackfaces.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 49 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 242p and an average of 210.9p (-6.2p), while 38 prime bullocks also peaked at 242p to level at 211p (+0.5p). A couple of prime bulls averaged 129p.

In the rough ring 85 beef cows averaged 100p (-8.7p) and 6 clean OTM cattle levelled at 145p.

The firm also sold 2613 prime lambs to a top of £90 and 192.3p to average £67 and 147p (-13p).

The 603 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £100 for Texels and average £66.51, while light ewes peaked at £67 for Cheviots and levelled at £47.76.

The firm went on to sell 16 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 239.5p and an average of 186.8p (-60.6p), while 33 beef-bred bullocks peaked at 225.5p and levelled at 189.3p (-42.3p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 153.5p and averaged 144p (+13.4p). Thirty-two prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 223.5p and averaged 181p (+9.8p), while 53 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 178.5p and levelled at 134.5p (+0.1p).

In the rough ring 51 beef cows averaged 111.5p (-2.1p) and 202 dairy cows levelled at 72.7p (-1.6p). Four bulls averaged 97.5p (-11.1p).

The firm also sold 2703 prime lambs to a top of £90.80 and 227p to average 156.1p (-6.2p).

A small show of 57 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £81.50 for Texels and average £71.10, while light ewes peaked at £59.50 for Cheviots and levelled at £45.48.
