C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 31 naturally reared and out-wintered Hereford bulls from the Ervie herd, all bred by imported Line One genetics, in Dumfries on Monday to a top of £7,200 and an average of £2,674.19 (+£321.69 on the year).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 17 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1,316.75 per head and 229p per kg to average £1,146.92 and 208.5p.

In the rough ring 64 beef cows averaged 121.9p and 135 dairy cows levelled at 82.9p. Eight bulls averaged 115.2p.

A small show of 7 dairy cattle sold to £1,250 for a second-calved Holstein Friesian and averaged £1,001.

Wallets Marts had 1019 prime hoggs forward in Castle Douglas yesterday that included over 600 weighing 39kg and less. Quality types were short of requirements and easily sold with plainer sorts more cautiously bid for. Top prices on the day were £97 per head and 207.7p per kg with the average levelling at 175.4p (-5.1p on the week).

There were also 576 cast sheep on offer when ewes sold to £135 for Texels, £85 for Mules and £70.50 for Blackfaces.
