C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 67 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 240.6p and an average of 194p (+5.7p on the fortnight), while 101 store bullocks peaked at 240p and levelled at 210.7p (+1.3p). Five store bulls sold to 268.8p and averaged 256.7p (+34.8p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 2148 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £105 per head and 217.8p per kg to average 186.4p (+2.3p on the week).
There were also 790 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £148 for a pen of Texels and £71.50 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £63.62.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 69 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 243p and an average of 200p (-4p), while 33 prime bullocks peaked at 232p and levelled at 205p (+5.4p). A couple of prime bulls averaged 164p.
In the rough ring 46 beef cows averaged 116p (no change).
There were also 2075 prime hoggs that sold to £105 and 215.2p to average £78 and 179.8p (-9p).
The 514 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £93 for Texels and average £74, while light ewes peaked at £77 for Cheviots and levelled at £53.
The firm also sold 14 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 218.5p and an average of 189.8p (-0.8p), while 36 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 213.5p and levelled at 180.3p (-7.5p). Six prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 144.5p and averaged 140.7p (+7.2p). Twenty-five prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 219.5p and averaged 176.2p (+10.1p), while 58 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 168.5p and levelled at 132.1p (+5.7p).
In the rough ring 84 beef cows averaged 118.4p (-2.7p) and 231 dairy cows levelled at 88.5p (+0.6p). Twelve bulls averaged 123.1p (+2p).
There were also 2237 prime hoggs forward that sold to £105 and 256.2p to average 192.7p (+1p).
A small show of 81 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £100 for a Suffolk and average £68.19, while light ewes peaked at £64.50 for Hill Cheviots and levelled at £37.50.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 17 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 246p and an average of 229.8p (-2.1p), while 9 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 224p and levelled at 207p (-1.1p). Twenty prime, B&W bullocks sold to 154p and averaged 137.1p (+1.1p).
In the rough ring 31 beef cows averaged 118.2p (-1.7p) and 56 dairy cows levelled at 88.6p (-4.5p).
There were also 2676 prime hoggs that sold to £118.50 and 230.2p to average 185.6p (-0.6p).
The 517 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £141.50 for a Texel and £76.50 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £64.97.
