United Auctions sold 1034 store heifers at Stirling on Wednesday to a top of 258.2p per kg and an average of 203.7p (-8.2p on the week), while 1348 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 274.2p and levelled at 214p (-5.6p). One-hundred-and-forty-one store, B&W bullocks sold to 191.9p and averaged 130.7p (-1.6p), while 63 store bulls peaked at 199p and levelled at 167.4p (no comparison).

In the rough ring 124 beef cows averaged 120.2p and 6 dairy cows levelled at 81.4p.

C&D Auction Marts Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Dumfries on Wednesday to a top of 216.5p and an average of 195.7p.

There were 46 OTM cattle presented in the rough ring when beef cows averaged 108.7p and dairy cows levelled at 82.9p.

The firm also sold 270 prime hoggs to a top of £96 per head and 193p per kg to average 181.4p (-0.1p).

A small show of 133 cast sheep saw heavy ewes sell to £117.50 for a Suffolk and average £84.66 (-£12.51), while light ewes peaked at £76.50 for Blackfaces and levelled at £69 (+£16.70).

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 317 prime hoggs in Newton Stewart on Wednesday to a top of £83.50 and 183.3p to average 168.1p (-5.3p).

There were only 67 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £129 for a Texel and £64.50 for Blackfaces.
