Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 76 store heifers at their June sale in Newton Stewart on Friday to a top of 243.6p per kg and an average of 209.4p, while 69 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 262p and levelled at 220.4p. Fifteen store, dairy-bred bullocks averaged 150.2p.
The firm went on to sell 641 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £95 per head and 214.1p per kg to average 191.7p (+4.1p on the week).
There were also 304 cast sheep forward when all classes were fully £2 per head sharper on the week with ewes selling to £141 for Texels and £59 for Blackfaces.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 48 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 231p and an average of 208.8p (+6.3p), while 22 prime bullocks peaked at 227p and levelled at 200.3p (-10.2p). Five prime bulls sold to 223p and averaged 187.9p.
In the rough ring 49 beef cows averaged 132.8p (-0.2p).
There were also 928 prime lambs that sold to £98 and 213.3p to average 181.7p (-13p), while 233 prime hoggs levelled at 145p.
The 398 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £101 for Texels and average £71.50, while light ewes peaked at £52 for Cheviots and levelled at £48.
The firm also sold 12 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 221.5p and an average of 191.9p (+9.3p), while 22 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 201.5p and levelled at 188.4p (+2.6p). Five prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 127.5p and averaged 121.5p (-23p). Forty prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 208.5p and averaged 172.4p (-5.6p), while 58 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 155.5p and averaged 125.7p (-11.7p).
In the rough ring 105 beef cows averaged 129.8p (+8.4p) and 188 dairy cows levelled at 90.9p (-5.4p). Seventeen bulls averaged 116.5p (-11.3p).
There were also 770 prime lambs that sold to £105.80 and 235.3p to average 186.7p (-5.6p).
The 121 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £90 for Texels.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 30 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 246p and an average of 223p (-2.4p), while 4 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 228p and levelled at 215.8p (+4.1p). Seven prime, B&W bullocks sold to 140.5p and averaged 131.2p (+0.4p).
In the rough ring 41 beef cows averaged 124.7p (-12p) and 66 dairy cows levelled at 93.9p (-4.9p). Four bulls averaged 124p.
In the sheep ring 529 prime lambs sold to £98 and 218.6p to average 191.2p (-4p), while 105 prime hoggs peaked at £77.50 and 142.3p to level at 118.3p (-24.5p).
The 203 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £119.50 for a Texel and £60.50 for Blackfaces.
