CRAIG Wilson Ltd sold 105 store heifers at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1,230 per head and 243.8p per kg to average £888.43 and 207.8p, while 257 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1,360 and 248.3p to level at £1,019.38 and 220.8p.

Eighty-six store, B&W bullocks sold to £925 and 160.4p to average £745 and 149.5p.

The firm also had 1,426 sheep forward at their second sale of Blackface ewes and store lambs. Store lambs sold to £65 for Beltex, £60 Texels, £50 Mules and £50 for Blackfaces to average £52.14 overall (-£1.09 on the week).

The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 5,093 prime lambs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £128 per head and 218p per kg to average 155.4p (+1.9p on the week). The 8804 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £128 for Texels and average £65.27 (-£1.43), while light ewes peaked at £74 for Lleyns and levelled at £36.73 (-£5.73). Rams sold to £235 for a Texel and averaged £81.98 (+£10.65).
