Wallets Marts sold 43 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of 246.5p per kg and an average of 218p, while 20 store bullocks peaked at 254p to level 218.1p.
The firm also had 760 Blackface ewe hoggs forward at their annual sale that sold to £225 for a pen of 15 from JW Kay & Co, Gass, Straiton and averaged £118.23 (-£21 on the year), while 76 Scotch Mule ewe hoggs peaked at £128 for a pen off Garrochtrie and levelled at £117.39 (+33p).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 503 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £97 per head and 211.9p per kg to average 184.1p (-5.1p on the week), while 164 hoggs levelled at 147.5p (-2.5p).
There were also 291 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £128.50 for Texels and £69.50 for Blackfaces.
John Swan Ltd sold 50 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 244p and an average of 211.5p (-4.2p), while 21 prime bullocks peaked at 238p and levelled at 213.1p (+3.3p).
In the rough ring 47 OTM cattle averaged 134.6p (+4.8p).
The firm also sold 1045 prime lambs to a top of £100 and 209.5p to average £80 and 188.5p (+0.5p), while 631 hoggs levelled at 144.6p (-13p).
The 367 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £110 for Texels and average £82, while light ewes peaked at £80 for Blackfaces and levelled at £55.
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 13 prime heifers in Carlisle to a top of 223.5p and an average of 184.9p (-9.9p), while 27 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 219.5p and levelled at 188.6p (+3.3p). Four prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 142.5p and averaged 136.7p (+7.2p). Nineteen prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 207.5p and averaged 178.7p (+6.9p), while 29 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 164.5p and levelled at 140.6p (+9.6p).
In the rough ring 76 beef cows averaged 133.5p (+3.9p) and 130 dairy cows levelled at 107.5p (+5.4p). Thirteen bulls averaged 138.4p (+14.6p).
The firm also sold 924 prime lambs to a top of £106 and 235p to average 193.5p (+3.6p), while 187 hoggs levelled at 158.1p (-6.2p).
A small show of 70 cast sheep saw ewes sell to £106 for Suffolks and £72 for Hill Cheviots.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 15 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 230.8p (+4.8p), while 10 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 226p and levelled at 210.1p (-2.1p). Five prime, B&W bullocks sold to 162.5p and averaged 138.7p.
In the rough ring 34 beef cows averaged 139.3p (+7.6p) and 32 dairy cows levelled at 105.1p (-1.7p).
The firm also sold 243 prime lambs to a top of £91.50 and 218.8p to average 194.4p ( (+2.9p), while 158 hoggs levelled at 141.5p (+3.7p).
