Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 16 prime heifers in Lanark on Monday to a top of 248p per kg and an average of 227.1p (+1.1p on the week), while 11 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 237p and levelled at 213.7p (+0.8p). Seventeen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 166p and averaged 146.3p (+4.2p).

In the rough ring 23 beef cows averaged 117.3p (-4.1p) and 40 dairy cows levelled at 89.4p (+6.2p).

The firm also sold 2018 prime lambs to a top of £99.50 per head and 229.8p per kg to average 185.9p (-4.4p).

The 509 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £153.50 for a Texel and 393.50 for Blackfaces to average £79.58 (+£14.66) overall.

Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 20 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1434 per head and 244p per kg to average £1192.68 and 218.9p, while 11 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1407 and 232p to level at £1264.30 and 204.5p. Four prime, B&W bullocks sold to £1250 and 170p to average £925.59 and 159.2p, while 5 prime bulls peaked at £1270.65 and 197p to level at £1138.57 and 185.7p.

In the rough ring 55 beef cows averaged 118.4p and 196 dairy cattle levelled at 86.3p. Thirty-one clean, OTM cattle averaged 154.2p.

The firm also had 20 dairy cattle forward that were a better show for quality on the week and sold to a top of £2000 for a Holstein Friesian heifer and an average of £1402.

Wallets Marts had a plainer show of 1629 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday that sold to a top of £88 and 217.5p to average 179.6p (-13.6p).

The 391 cast forward saw ewes sell to £120 for Texels and £65.50 for Blackfaces.
