MESSRS Craig Wilson Ltd sold 16 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1,395.20 per head and 226 pence per kilogramme to average £1,149.88 and 209p, while eight prime bullocks peaked at £1,404 and 240p to level at £1,210.82 and 214.8p.
Eleven prime bulls sold to £1,225.55 and 193p to average £896.81 and 154.5p.
In the rough ring 89 beef cows averaged 118.4p and 90 dairy cows levelled at 86.5p. Twelve bulls averaged 97.1p and 13 clean OTM cattle levelled at 157.1p.
The firm also had 22 dairy cattle forward that were a plainer show for quality.
Top price on the day of £2,020 was bid on two separate occasions, firstly for an Ayrshire Heifer and then for a Holstein Friesian heifer, with the final average levelling at £1,364.
Wallets Marts sold 1,981 prime lambs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £95 per head and 217.6p per kg to average 175.7p (+3.9p on the week).
There were also 451 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £111 for Texels and £64.50 for Blackfaces.
