The latest film by idiosyncratic documentarist Adam Curtis, best known for The Century of the Self, will be blazing a trail when is appears on the BBC's iPlayer later this month.

According to BBC director general Tony Hall this is the BBC's new front door with programmes by Frankie Boyle and Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer also planned to appear there exclusively.

Curtis's new film Bitter Lake is posted up later this month and promises to be another thoughtful, provocative, potent film that uses filmic devices and found footage to redress our vision of the world. It's about politicians and journalists and how neither are able to explain the world to us any more. Part of the problem, suggests Curtis, is the rigid tyranny of television formats. Which maybe helps explain Bitter Lake's appearance on BBC iPlayer, where it will go live on January 25.
