MUSIC systems business Linn Products was pleased as punch last week to have one of its most admired products coated in gold. The Glasgow-based company revealed that upmarket Dutch specialist Concerto Audio had ‘pimped’ its iconic Klimax LP12 turntable (a record player first marketed by Linn founder Ivor Tiefenbrun in 1972) by covering it in gold leaf. “The custom plinth is plated in 23.75 carat gold leaf from Germany and took over 10 hours to coat!” the company tweeted. Concerto is using the gold turntable for display purposes, but would be happy to organise one for any interested buyers. The upgrade would be an extra £1,500 on top of the Klimax LP12’s retail price of £17,220.

ITALIAN couple Stefano and Maria Molfino have engineered a clever mnemonic to help customers remember the location of their two restaurants. Having opened their original trattoria, Rigatoni's, opposite the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh’s south side, the pair have just launched their latest restaurant next to the King's Theatre in Tollcross. "Already our customers are referring to the two restaurants as Rigatoni's at the Kings and Rigatoni's at the Queens, which is brilliant,” said Naples-born Mr Molfino.

JEREMY Clarkson, the infamous ex presenter of BBC’s ‘Top Gear’, was the most searched for company director in 2015, according to research from online credit report provider Creditsafe . Clarkson, who hit the headlines in March following a fracas with a producer over steak, is a listed director of the humorously named Chump Holdings Limited, Chump Productions Limited and W Chump & Sons Limited. Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley and Ultimo bra creator Michelle Mone also made the top ten.
