BANK of Scotland has promoted Caroline Cuthbertson to a newly created role in its senior management team.

Ms Cuthbertson, who has spent 26 years in banking, moves internally to become head of commercial banking for Scotland.

She will report to regional managing director Alasdair Gardner as well as supporting directors looking after small and medium enterprises and mid-market businesses.

Ms Cuthbertson, a qualified chartered accountant who recently completed the chartered banker MBA qualification, has worked in roles in retail, real estate, international and buy-out funding.

She said: "Scotland hosts a diverse range of enterprise and 2014 has proven what the region has to offer in terms of business and pleasure.

"It is a real honour to be joining the Bank of Scotland senior management team and I am looking forward to my new role."

Mr Gardner said: "Caroline's appointment is a real testament to the investment being made by the Bank of Scotland to client relationships in Scotland.

"This new role will support growth aspirations for businesses across Scotland enabling our commercial customers to capitalise on our growing economy."
