ALISON Condie, left, has been appointed managing director at Barratt East Scotland.

Ms Condie, who will be based at the housebuilder's Edinburgh office, was previously technical director with the division for the past eight years.

The appointment comes amid a period of growth at Barratt East Scotland, which says new homes sales are up year on year.

Ms Condie said: "I am very much looking forward to taking up the role of managing director of Barratt East Scotland. We have a great plan in place and ambitious plans for 2013 and beyond. I am delighted to be leading what promises to be bright future for the divisions."

Return to roots

FORMER Edinburgh Instruments chief executive Alan Faichney is returning to the oil and gas industry where he spent much of his early career.

He is joining the board 
of Adrok, based in the Scottish capital and the developer of a scanner used in mineral and oil and gas exploration, as a non-executive director.

Mr Faichney was previously managing director of Concept Systems, which supplied complex planning and 
data management tools to seismic contractors in the oil exploration industry.

He said the team at Adrok had delivered some great results for clients. "I want to help them build on this momentum and grow the business to become one of the industry leaders."

Gordon Stove, chief executive of Adrok, described the appointment as a major coup.

Ogilvie board boost

STIRLING-based Ogilvie Group, whose interests span construction, homes, communications and fleet services, has made two appointments to its board.

Alan Greig, managing director of Ogilvie Communications, has joined the board with specific responsibility for developing the group's IT infrastructure.

Fellow new board arrival Nick Hardy, sales and marketing director at Ogilvie Fleet, has been appointed to develop marketing activities aimed at driving continuing growth across the group.

The appointments following a reorganisation in May that saw Donald MacDonald join the group board as managing director of Ogilvie Construction and Phil McEwan appointed executive chairman.

Select role for Reid

A KEY executive at SELECT, the Electrical Contractors' Association, has taken the helm at the new body that represents specialist trades across the construction industry.

Martin Reid, who is member services manager at SELECT, has become secretary of the Specialist Engineering Contracting Group, which was formed just a year ago.

McCLURE Naismith Solicitors has appointed Scott Kerr to lead its corporate team within its Commercial & Financial Services (CFS) Unit in Edinburgh.

With experience in the life sciences, technology and 
food and drink sectors, Mr Kerr has advised clients extensively on corporate structures and investment, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, partnerships and commercial contracts.

Mr Kerr trained with and headed the intellectual property unit with Dickson Minto before becoming a partner with Steedman Ramage and then Semple Fraser.

McClure Naismith has also announced the appointment of two associates, Calum Robertson and Clare Crawford.
