UP to 25 space industry jobs will be created in Glasgow after £4 million was awarded to Spire Global by the UK Space Agency.

Spire, whose UK base is in Glasgow’s Skypark, uses satellite data to track ships, planes and weather in some of the world’s most remote regions.

The funding will be used to enhance the computing power of its satellite data processing systems.

The announcement was made by UK Government ministers Lord Henley and Lord Duncan, on a visit to the company.

The funding gives the green light to missions designed to showcase the company’s technology and put UK companies into orbit faster and at a lower cost.
