PORTABLE pizza oven company Uuni has signed a deal that will see its range available in John Lewis shops across the UK.

Broxburn-based Uuni launched in 2012, bringing to the market what is believed to be the world’s first portable wood-fired pizza oven.

Now, following a successful online trial of its flagship Uuni 3 oven and accessories at John Lewis, the retailer is taking on a range of products across 48 shops.

Since the launch of its first oven, the company has used a succcessfuly crowd-sourcing programme to raise funds, which helped it launch the Uuni 3 and the Uuni Pro, which can be fuelled with wood, charcoal, wood-pellets or gas.

Established by husband and wife team Kristian Tapaninaho and Darina Garland, the business now exports to a number of countries, including the US and Australia thanks to the Uuni’s 60 second cooking time.

Finnish-born Mr Tapaninaho, said: “John Lewis is synonymous with quality and style, so to have our products now visible to the eyes of their customers in shops following an initial run online, is just fantastic.

“We’re always striving to innovate and evolve our products to make exceptional eating experiences more accessible and we’re really pleased to have John Lewis on that journey with us now. We have a great community of Uuni users and we’re looking forward to expanding our community.”
