Scotland’s Airline Loganair had its international connectivity further enhanced today (Tues March 27) by the announcement of a substantial expansion of easyJet’s global connections platform Worldwide by easyJet.
Worldwide by easyJet, the first global airline connections service by a European low fares airline, was launched in September - with Loganair joining Canadian airline WestJet and Norwegian as founder members.
Today another three airline partners joined the club, with the addition of holiday giant Thomas Cook Airlines, French long-haul specialist Corsair International and French business class-only airline La Compagnie.
There will also be connections via seven more airports – Edinburgh, Inverness, Berlin Tegel, Amsterdam Schiphol, Venice Marco Polo, Paris Charles De Gaulle and Paris Orly.
The service enables customers of participant airlines to seamlessly connect with partner airline flights through a digital, virtual hub, and easyJet will also sell stand-alone tickets on behalf of partner airlines, including Loganair , thereby boosting the brand recognition of Scotland’s Airline. One of the biggest travel websites in Europe is operated by easyJet. with around 360m visits in the last 12 months.
Loganair managing director Jonathan Hinkles said:
“We’re excited to be featuring in this growing initiative. It lends strength to Loganair’s sales efforts in markets where easyJet has a strong presence but our brand may not be well recognised. Such a well-known name in travel also selling stand-alone tickets for travel on the Loganair network vastly improves our distribution capability by promoting the Loganair name and network to a worldwide audience”
Johan Lundgren, easyJet CEO, said:
“We are pleased to announce that we will be extending our ‘Worldwide by easyJet’ connections platform to Berlin Tegel from summer 2018 onwards. The addition of Tegel, alongside other key airports in the network, means that 53 million easyJet customers will be able to connect to other airlines’ or to easyJet flights. We have been delighted with the appetite of partner airports and airlines to expand Worldwide across our network allowing us to access a greater range of passengers flying across Europe.
“Because of easyJet’s reputation for great customer service and our strong positions at Europe’s leading airports, long haul carriers as well as airports have been asking to work with easyJet for some time.
“easyJet will sign up other airlines to Worldwide by easyJet throughout 2018, with talks already far advanced with middle and far-eastern carriers amongst others and we also plan to expand to other easyJet airports across Europe.”
easyJet has leadership positions at more of Europe’s major airports and flies on more of Europe’s 100 largest routes than any other airline, which makes it the most attractive European short haul airline not currently providing connectivity
