LAW from CMS has appointed Allan Wernham as its managing director in Scotland, leading its offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen which between them employ around 350 staff and partners.
Mr Wernham, a partner and real estate specialist in the firm’s Glasgow office, was formerly managing partner of Dundas & Wilson before its merger with CMS in 2014. He brings more than 20 years’ experience to the role, including particular expertise in retail development and investment with a focus on major regeneration projects. He is qualified to practice law in Scotland and England and Wales.
Mr Wernham, pictured top, takes over from Caryn Penley, who is now CMS UK’s joint managing director of Asia and Middle East. He said: I’m delighted to be taking on the leadership of the firm’s growth in Scotland. We have a talented team of people across our offices in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.”
IoD brings in new regional chairmen
THE Institute of Directors Scotland has appointed two new regional chairmen.
Craig Jamieson, a director at Barclays Wealth Management, has been named as chair of the business group’s Glasgow branch, with Donald Forsyth, a partner at Saffery Champness, taking on a similar role for the Highlands and Islands.
Mr Jamieson vowed to bring more talent into the Glasgow network, including by working more closely with the higher and further education sectors.
“While I am chair I want to look at how we make the network more vibrant, diverse and accessible,” he said.
Mr Forsyth, pictured, said he will be looking to collaborate with other business networks in the north of the country, and to make the IoD in the region “inclusive”.
“The IoD has access to influential speakers from across these various sectors in Scotland, so I want to bring them to the more remote locations,” he added.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
