T in the Park is one of the biggest and most popular music festivals in the UK.

Now it is in the process of formalising its new site, Strathallan Castle in Perthshire.

But, as many will know, finding a new home is seldom free of stress and trouble.

The festival, which revealed a rather safe but no doubt popular 2015 line-up yesterday, had spent 18 years at Balado, in Kinross, but had to move after safety concerns over the major oil line that runs under that site.

T in the Park, run by DF Concerts, settled on the castle with its 1000 acres of land, and in a location roughly an hour from both Edinburgh and Glasgow. Perth and Kinross Council will consider its planning application in April.

Local campaigners are wary of the disruption caused by the event, and there has been issues - which appear to have been addressed - over its impact on local wildlife and environment.

The nearby Gleneagles Hotel has also raised its own concerns, but appears to be ready to discuss these with its boisterous new neighbour.

T in the Park is loved by its many tens of thousands of revellers, and is a key fixture in the nation's cultural calendar. Last year it also generated £14.7m at a national level and £2.4 m locally. Its continued existence should be supported and appreciated.
