LAST week in an article on armed policing we said there were around 1750 police officers in Scotland.

In fact, a digit was missing from this number. At the last official count there were 17,318. Of these, around 275 currently serve in armed response units. According to the Scottish Government, around 3% of officers are trained and authorised to use firearms, if required. We are happy to correct this and apologise for any confusion caused.
