YOUR report on the possibility of the loss of Dogstar Theatre Company ("Theatre company threatened with closure after it fails to win funding", The Herald, November 14) will be met with universal alarm by anyone who saw its ground-breaking production Factor 9.

This compelling and harrowing work tackled the controversy facing those of us who were so disastrously infected with Hepatitis C or HIV by NHS blood products.

Disadvantaged groups like ours need Dogstar to publicly draw wider attention and understanding toward our plight while the mainstream media have now largely bypassed this decades-long disaster which has left several hundreds dead and many others with serious illnesses.

The professionalism, sensitivity and ground-breaking research that went into the writing and delivery of its work deserves better than to have vital funding sources withheld. Dogstar deserves better than this and Scotland deserves better than losing Dogstar.
