THE Kirk Glebe land at Luss is a serene and beautiful place, both an early Christian shrine and a place of reconciliation between world faiths.

It seems a great pity that among the plaques dedicated to cities one describes itself as "City of Jerusalem, Israel".

Jerusalem is one of the most hotly-disputed pieces of real estate on earth, and Jerusalem citizens applying for visas to Britain are tactfully given visas stating place of origin as "Jerusalem, Jerusalem".

The United Nations has made it clear that the current Israeli settlement building in Jerusalem is on non-Israeli territory and that the settlements are illegal.

I have written to both the park and Kirk authorities asking that the plaque should be corrected, but they seem to think it is not a point of importance.

It is. Nobody should be allowed to introduce a divisive land claim into such a holy place, especially in an area dedicated to inter-faith understanding.
