As a regular concert-goer, all those years ago, the St Andrew's Hall I attended was adjacent to the Mitchell Library in North Street before it was sadly destroyed by fire in 1962 (Obituary, Cameron McNicol, The Herald, October 20).

The ashes of St Andrew's Hall were therefore never on the site where Glasgow Royal Concert Hall was built.

Wonderful building that it is, it has yet to build up the affection in which the old St Andrew's Hall was held by the people of Glasgow. However, I'm sure that it will do so in the fullness of time.
