I WAS disappointed to read about Allan McKay's unfortunate experience in the Southern General Hospital (Letters, April 17).

I spent two and a half weeks in the Edenhall Spinal Injury Unit with two broken and displaced C5 and 6 vertebrae. Like Mr McKay I was very impressed with the very high skill and professionalism of all the staff and above all the team spirit had to be seen.

Regarding the food, we were spoilt for choice in the Edenhall unit. The menu, which was brought to your bedside the night before, had such a variety it took some time to choose your meals for the next day. The quality of the food was first-class, always piping hot and beautifully presented. Even my wife was impressed.

I am now back to my very active lifestyle, thanks to all the staff at the Edenhall Unit, the Southern General Hospital.
