Jean Johnston ("What chance of a lottery bet after a Yes vote", The Herald, June 24) points out that in fact a vote for independence would in itself be a vote for a lottery.

It apparently would not be the only matter that has not been adequately researched and agreed with UK departments prior to a vote. I was recently at a workshop hosted by DECC and Ofgem to discuss technicalities regarding the current Renewable Heat Incentive for biomass installations, which is only a very small part of DECC and Ofgem's remit. At the end of the Q&A session I asked: "Have there been any discussions with the SNP or Scottish Government regarding possible separation?" The answer was no.

If the SNP have not talked to such departments or quangos large or small, just to discover what is involved in terms of where currently infrastructure is, what staffing would need to be created, what office space, etc, then truly Lean Johnston need not worry we will have a lottery - an independence lottery!
