Glasgow designers Rebecca Torres, Joanne McGillivray and Saunt and Sinner have been chosen to take part in a series of pop up shops celebrating Scottish design talent at House of Fraser on Buchanan Street.

The trio of rising stars will take turns to share a section of the sales floor for a fortnight each on the lead-up to House of Fraser's busy Christmas shopping period.

The womenswear designers were approached by House of Fraser's General Manager Paul Mitchell to take part in an initiative to support emerging Scottish brands.

Mitchell said: "We're delighted to be reaching out and embracing the design talent that exists right on our doorstep. We pride ourselves in championing fresh, up and coming talent and the three designers involved in the project allow us to be at the epicentre of the fashion playground in Glasgow."

The designers will work with House of Fraser's buying and visual teams during the busy festive shopping period in a bid to increase sales and public awareness of their designs.

Rebecca Torres opened the project yesterday with her two week pop-up placed in an prime position amidst premium brands like Acne and McQueen on the womenswear floor.

Torres, who is recognised for her signature panelled dresses, said: "Being stocked in House of Fraser is a great opportunity to introduce customers to my work and get first hand feedback from them about the collection. I've made my first pop up sale this morning which is really exciting. I'm hoping we can continue this partnership and be featured in store seasonally."

Following Torres is Glasgow based design duo Saunt & Sinner. Designers behind the label Toni Roddie and Emma Noble (a former House of Fraser employee) have worked together since graduating from Grays School of Art in July 2012. The pair have amassed a celebrity following including Scots singing sensation Emeli Sande and recently completed an internship with celebrated Scottish designer Christopher Kane.

Toni said: "We're keen to cater for women of different ages and sizes with our range of dresses, skirts, shirts and accessories. Working as a duo means we can combine our skills and bounce ideas off one another. This kind of opportunity is invaluable for a new designer and we're really excited about the buzz it will create for our brand."

Scottish Fashion Awards Graduate of the Year (2012), Joanne McGillivray completes the trio of designers involved in the project. With a background in textiles, an internship with Marks and Spencer and celebrity customers like Made in Chelsea's Millie Macintosh, Joanne has been hugely successful since launching her debut collection in June this year.

She said:  "I feel really honoured to collaborate with House of Fraser so early in my design career. It's such a huge milestone. I hope customers will get to know the brand and I'll have the opportunity to share my story with them. My garments are manufactured in Alloa so there's a great local connection there. The pieces attract a mix of women from To celebrate the launch of her pop up (17th-30th December) McGillivray is holding an interactive advent calendar competition on Twitter and Instagram to win pieces from her Autumn Winter collection.

All three designers hope to continue their connection with House of Fraser into 2014 as the iconic department store continues to invest in its womenswear collections.
