A SCOTS-born Savile Row tailor has become the first designer addition to Debenhams' menswear range since Jeff Banks more than a decade ago.

Patrick Grant, 40, from Morningside, Edinburgh, has already built up a cult following after appearing in Vogue and other glamorous magazines, and has starred in BBC2's Great British Sewing Bee.

Launching in the autumn, Mr Grant's Hammond & Co range has been designed to appeal to men who want classic yet contemporary style, said the high street chain. Hammond & Co was originally founded in 1776, but has been given a new lease of life by Mr Grant.

"The Hammond & Co range by Patrick Grant will consist of beautifully cut suits – they are the essence of Savile Row tailoring at high street prices," said Paul Baldwin, Debenhams' menswear trading director.

"We are thrilled to have a new designer addition to our menswear department. Customers can shop for established names such as Jasper Conran and John Rocha alongside newer designers such as Patrick."

Mr Grant said: "Hammond & Co is a house with a great history of excellence in sporting tailoring and we have done our best to remain true to this heritage."
