She's electric: Scottish fashion designer Mairi McDonald announces new collection

Award winning Edinburgh luxury boutique Jane Davidson & luxury womenswear label Mairi McDonald are to announce the arrival of key looks from the 'Electric Eclectic' debut collection in store this June.

Sarah Murray's luxury boutique Jane Davidson is located on Thistle Street and is the exclusive Edinburgh stockist of Dries Van Noten, Roksanda Illinic, Preen, Roland Mouret, Temperley and Matthew Williamson. Sarah also stocks key Scottish brands such as Mackintosh, Georgia Wiseman and Queene & Belle.

Scottish designer Mairi McDonald creates eclectic and free-spirited luxury womenswear designs that explore key textiles with a high standard of craftmanship. The laidback glamour of the Mairi McDonald label allows the wearer the freedom not to conform. Effortlessly cool, forever pieces that reference luxury fabrics such as Scottish lace, silks, fine suedes and luxuriously delicate, bespoke knitwear are intertwined Swarovski crystals. Mairi McDonald uses beautiful fabrics to create wearable, desirable silhouettes rich in detail with a glimmer of attitude.

The 'Electric Eclectic' collection tells the story of the girl with the band who is travelling the world in search of something different, something iconic to add to her eclectic wardrobe.  She is attracted to the laidback L.A. vibe and her style reflects an element of Californian cool with a dark, rebellious edge.

A graduate of the renowned London College of Fashion, Mairi began her career with Julien MacDonald working on catwalk showpieces and celebrity comissions and gained further experience with Givenchy and Boudicca before going onto have an extensive design career across Womenswear, Menswear and Textile Design working with high profile luxury labels, national and international brands and retailers.

"When I saw the Mairi McDonald collection it really stood out. I loved that fact she uses Scottish lace and the fit is second to none. She has such a strong, confident handwriting which is backed up by a lot of commercial experience. It's a combination which am sure will make her go far." ( Sarah Murray, owner Jane Davidson).

Sarah Murray, owner of Jane Davidson, was awarded Draper's 'Best Premium Independent Award' for her luxury boutique in 2013. Mairi McDonald collected Scotland Re:Designed's 'New Talent Award' in Novemeber2013 following a preview of the Electric Eclectic collection at Edinburgh International Fashion Festival in July. Mairi McDonald launched her collection to an international audience at Scoop London in January 2014.
