Glasgow is getting ready to mark what's thought to be Scotland's very first coffee festival this November at one of the city's newest and exciting venues - Drygate Brewery Co.

The Scottish Coffee Festival, held on Saturday November 29 between 11am and 6pm, will merge some of Scotland's best roasters and Glasgow's finest cafes in an unmissable event for discerning coffee lovers.

The inaugural festival will feature a day of sampling and tasting of Scotland's coffee as well as barista demonstrations, latte art, street food from Drygate Brewing Co and coffee inspired cocktails, live music and entertainment.  Tickets for the event are priced at £8, with £1 from each ticket sold being donated to charity partner, The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.

Event organisers, Chris Brown and Elisa Dunn are passionate about coffee and were inspired to create the event after taking in coffee festivals in Amsterdam, London and Australia.

Chris said: "I saw how passionate people were in places like Cuba and Amsterdam about their coffee and it got me thinking, could we do something similar in Scotland?  We've got festivals for everything in Scotland - wine, beer and chocolate - but not coffee!"

"I moved to Glasgow over a year ago and I was struck by just how exciting a city it is.  There is always something happening and going on and I could also see the café scene here was beginning to grow and grow and I thought, 'this is the perfect place to host the very first Scottish Coffee Festival'.

"It's all for a great cause as well. The Prince Princess of Wales Hospice is a charity close to my heart and it's a fantastic opportunity to raise vital funds for them."

Elisa added: "Good, quality coffee was part of growing up for me. Coming from a large Italian family…you could say we know our coffee!

"Chris and I are really excited to launch the Scottish Coffee Festival in Glasgow.

"Over the last decade Glasgow has become a hub for coffee lovers and a flourishing trade for roasters and cafes.  It's our vision to showcase the very best independent cafes and roasters throughout Scotland."
