If the thought of salad is making you wilt, perhaps it's time to beef up your diet with some protein.

Cholesterol be damned - this week, Yelp is on a steakout for some prime cuts!

Shebeen, 8 Morrison Street, Edinburgh

Shona F asks: "Do you like meat? Do you like a lot of meat?" Then this South African restaurant is for you. The sharing Fanagalo is literally a bucket of meaty goodness: "a half-rack of spare ribs, boerewors sausages, pork belly, and meatballs".

The Butchershop Bar & Grill, 1055 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow

Here they use "only Scottish grass-fed cattle which is then hung on the bone and dry aged for at least 28 days", says Pammi G. The menu abounds with steak options, locally sourced from the Borders and Ayrshire.

Kyloe Restaurant & Grill, 1-3 Rutland Street, Edinburgh

This classy restaurant delights Gemma M with the "gorgeous, lightly seasoned and very juicy" rare sirloin. It has all the cuts, with unusual sauces on the side, like chipotle chilli and haggis.

The Grill Room, 29 Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow

This restaurant is a proud member of the Scottish Beef Club. Andrew M and his fellow diners tried the fillet steak, New York-style strip sirloin steak and the Kansas City-style, bone-in strip sirloin steak.

Wildfire, 192 Rose Street, Edinburgh

If you fancy all the yumminess of chargrilled meat, but with the added bonus of fresh fish, try this sophisticated spot. Lauren G adores the "homely feel, with stone walls and a wood burner", but the salmon fillet, marinated in cajun spices, stole the show.

Viva Brazil, 87-91 Bothwell Street, Glasgow

Not for the faint-hearted, this Churrascaria offers up "15 different cuts of meat all brought to your table by the Passadors". Martyn M says the steaks served in the all-you-can-eat option are "juicy, tender and flavoursome".

Los Argentinos, 28-30 West Preston Street, Edinburgh

Alan S proclaims the "gigantic T-bone and the 400g sirloin were the highlights" here, and if you're looking for a real steak treat, why not sample the tres carnes - three types of steak on one plate.

Peters West End, 39-41 Hyndland Street, Glasgow

Joseph B says the food is "unpretentious and good wholesome Scottish fare that tastes amazing". Steak takes pride of place on Thursday's Steak Night - just £10 with sauce, potato and a side.

Steak Edinburgh, 14 Picardy Place, Edinburgh

For Robyn Z, "the steaks were the star of the meal". She sampled the 200g rump with fries and recommends the peas with bacon and truffled macaroni cheese as sides.

Bo'Vine, 385 Byres Road, Glasgow

Michelle M went all out when dining here - "perfectly cooked Chateaubriand served in a giant frying pan, complete with a mountain of triple-cooked chips, rocket and parmesan side salads, and a little pot of fiery peppercorn sauce on the side". Pure, meaty heaven!
