AROUND a dozen of Glasgow's best-known fashion designers, businesses and restaurants have been invited to showcase their products at Marseille's annual artisan event.

The French festival, Artisans 13, takes place in the southern city of Marseille from April 13 to 15 this year and attracts around 30,000 visitors. Glasgow has been twinned with Marseille since 2006.

The list of businesses going include Glasgow-based restaurant Red Onion, fashion label Ten30 and designer Robert Watson, the man behind the city's made-to-measure jeans label Rabbie Denim.

Glass art company Sugar Glass, jewellery designer Hannah Eccles and Heather McKay from model agency The Model Team will also attend the three-day cultural event.

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: "This is a great opportunity for Glasgow businesses to showcase themselves to a new audience. The event is filled with potential and a chance to establish new business opportunities with our partners in Marseille, and the companies based there and throughout France."

There will be a couple of designers from outside Glasgow. Handbag designer Catherine Aitken and milliner Joyce Paton will also be attending Artisans 13. VisitScotland and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau will also exhibit at the event.
