Fiona Bruce and co pitch pitch up at Kelvingrove from 9.30am to 4.30pm today to conduct filming for the 37th series of the Beeb's venerable antique-athon. For the initiated, the long-running Sunday evening staple puts heirloom-toting members of the public in touch with antique and fine art experts for help, advice, inspection and valuation. Edinburgh Restaurant Festival

A great opportunity to get out and enjoy the capital's culinary scene, as 60 of Edinburgh's restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops come together for two weeks of menu offers and special foodie events. Billed as Britain's biggest lifestyle show for people over 50, this three-day exhibition focuses on hobbies, health, crafts and travel. As well as live cookery and ballroom dancing demonstrations, there are musical performances, catwalk fashion shows, and the chance to try activities such as yoga, t'ai chi, and indoor climbing. Elsewhere, there are also a variety of talks, plus opportunities for shopping, pampering, and perusing stands from a range of companies and service providers. An Evening In Space

Join Royal Observatory astronomers William Taylor and Alastair Bruce for a family friendly evening of scientific fun dubbed Spaced Oot! - A Beginners Guide to Exploring The Universe. The pair will give a lecture, designed to give rookie stargazers all the information they need to get started. There's also a special drinks reception open to all attending, as well as a showing of We Are Astronomers, an eye-popping 360° dome cinema film about the cosmos narrated by former Doctor Who David Tennant. Royal National Mod

Scotland's largest Gaelic festival returns to Inverness for the first time in 17 years, kicking off with a huge torchlit procession throughout the city tonight from 7pm. Spanning an entire week, 2014's Mod features competition and performances across a range of disciplines including Highland Dancing and Gaelic music and song, as well as a fringe programme of more than 70 events taking place in venues around the city. Entertainment includes concerts featuring Skippinish and Skerryvore plus street theatre, shinty matches, traditional music sessions, and come-and-try workshops. www.acgmod.org/nationalmod
Tunnock's Mull Rally

The checkered flag goes up on a weekend of racing action tomorrow night in Tobermory, as this long-running fixture of the motor sports calendar returns for a 45th year. Taking place on closed public roads and rugged tracks around the island, the competition's three legs are on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night, while a supporting programme of events includes tonight's tea cake eating contest, courtesy of event sponsor Tunnock's. Big Fun Run
Glasgow and Edinburgh, Saturday and Sunday
Coming to Glasgow's Bellahouston Park on Saturday and Edinburgh's Holyrood Park on Sunday, this family-friendly fitness event is more about relaxing and having fun than grinding out the latest personal best. There's no timing, and participants can walk, jog, run or even dance around the route; fancy dress and pushchairs are welcome. If you want to fundraise, there's also the chance to sign up with a wide range of local and national charities. Wild Autumn Festival

Discover a wealth of stunning wildlife with the start of four weeks celebrating the flora and fauna of the south-west of Scotland, including deer, red squirrels, birds of prey, and thousands of migratory geese. Bridgeton Bus Garage Open Day

Relive the golden age of clippies and colourful corporation buses as Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust host their annual autumn open day. On show will be buses, coaches and commercial vehicles from the Trust's extensive collection, as well as visiting vehicles, sales stands, model displays and refreshments. Based out of a former council bus garage in the city's East End, the event is open from 10am to 5pm. Big Biology Day
Mugdock Country Park, East Dunbartonshire, Sunday
Another science-inspired day of hands-on activities, exploring the world around us and the search for life on other planets. Outdoor attractions include bug hunting, sun spotting, rocket making and bird ringing, while there are also indoor craft and health information workshops, a series of talks, and the chance to meet scientists from Glasgow University's Cosmic Way Roadshow project.
