Stella McCartney’s navy tracksuits and shapely running shorts may have dominated Olympic-related fashion headlines, but the outfits of the other British team – the squad fronting the BBC’s television coverage – are also the subject of daily scrutiny.

From Sue Barker’s super suits to Shirley Robertson’s water wear, some television stars have stuck to their usual style, while others have adapted a look to suit the event.

Here is the presenters and pundits’ style story so far...

Hazel Irvine: The well-groomed Scot has been making herself comfortable on the BBC Breakfast sofa, following a successful stint presenting the Open golf championship. Her understated style favours neutral trouser suits in colours like black and beige, matched with an array of cheerfully-coloured tops beneath.

Gabby Logan: Presenting the evening Olympics round-up programme, Gabby has been typically and consistently glamorous. On ‘Super Saturday’ her black sparkly top, teamed with cream trousers added a touch of the special occasion, glinting like the winners’ medals in the studio lights. An unusually patterned red and white jumper has been her only mis-step so far...and her possibly over-enthusiastic dance moves to Spandau Ballet's Gold when it's time to add another notch to the Big Ben gauge.

Clare Balding: Clare Balding’s enthusiastic commentary has gained her largely positive reviews, and her sports-casual outfits have worked particularly well on the poolside, matching her presenting style - down-to-earth, but still up to speed.

Mishal Husain: A chic power dresser, Mishal Husain’s look wouldn’t be out of place in a court room. Her skirt-suits and tailored dresses suggest ‘perfect professional’ for the newsroom, and the Peter Pan collar dress she chose for the weekend showed she could deliver a more relaxed look too.

Sonali Shah: Bright colours work well for this bubbly young presenter, who has so far appeared in orange, cerise and sky blue – we wonder if she’ll manage all the colours of the rainbow, or the Olympic flag, before the closing ceremony on Sunday.

Shirley Robertson: It’s hard to look your best sitting on the side of a boat getting windswept and covered in salt spray, but sailing reporter and double Olympic gold medallist Shirley Robertson has had plenty of practice - and manages to make even a soggy black waterproof look good.

Sue Barker: The tennis and Question of Sport presenter’s preference for fitted jackets has continued in her Olympics coverage, and who can blame her for going for layers when the weather in her primary working environment (Wimbledon) is so variable. A favourite Olympics outfit so far was the royal blue jacket she wore to interview Prince Harry and the Duke of Cambridge.
