Former head designer of Pringle of Scotland, Angela Bell has announced a collaboration between her brand, Queene and Belle and London stylist, Martha Ward for Spring Summer 2018. Run from founder, Bell’s sheep farm in the Scottish Borders, Scottish heritage is at the core of Queene and Belle’s identity.
Having grown up surrounded by the Scottish knitwear industry, Bell established the brand in 2000 with firm aspirations to produce locally in Scotland. Remaining true to that vision, garments have supported local cashmere mills from the outset. Queene and Belle has soared in success and are now stocked by over 40 retailers including global luxury e-commerce giant, Matches Fashion.
A collaboration between Queene and Belle and London stylist, Martha Ward, contributing editor to Harper's Bazaar was first discussed when Queene and Belle designed a ‘Martha’ dress in homage of Ward’s love for white, vintage lace. Ward explains, “It wasn't long before we talked of a proper collaboration of ‘Martha’ pieces for Queene & Belle and last spring we sat down and Angela translated my dream dresses into sketches".
Queene & Belle x Martha Ward, Sweetpea Dress, £465
The limited-edition capsule collection of delicate whites featuring ruffles and ribbons, reflects Ward’s signature style. Ward comments, “I have become known for my love of frills, collars, ruffles, ribbons, bows and lace - all a genuine and lifelong love - and so the affinity I have for this collection runs truly and deeply. It’s my first collaboration and it’s feels like a natural fit with Queene & Belle.”

Bell is equally as pleased with the collaboration, commenting, “Martha was the perfect partner to collaborate with, I have loved her feminine style for many years and always found her look very inspiring. She avidly collects the prettiest vintage ‘whites’ and so do I, so it really was wonderful to work together on a small group of pieces born out of our collective obsession!”

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
