A new series of Culture Cafe lunchtime events at Aberdeen Music Hall begins tomorrow when novelist, poet and short-story writer Jackie Kay, pictured, is in conversation with Aberdeen University's Professor of Creative Writing and WORD festival director Alan Spence. The monthly series continues in October with a first visit to Aberdeen by Booker-winner Ben Okri on October 7.

The season then turns musical in November, when violinist Krysia Osostowicz and pianist Daniel Tong play Beethoven Sonatas and companion pieces commissioned from living composers. In January SCO principal Alec Frank-Gemmill and pianist Alasdair Beatson include Beethoven's Horn Sonata in their programme.
