In 2004, piper and Gaelic singer Allan MacDonald won a Herald Angel for his From Battle Lines to Bar Lines series of pibroch concerts at Edinburgh International Festival. By the time of the Angels presentation ceremony MacDonald was touring abroad and the statuette that goes with the award went missing. Hearing about this recently, an anonymous benefactor commissioned Oliver Conway, the artist who supplies the figures, to make one specially and MacDonald has now been presented with his Angel, with its suitably inscribed plaque.
