If there was ever a place to discover the best in international talent it has to be at London Fashion Week. As ever this season’s autumn winter presentations were exceptional, with live shows and exhibitions taking place throughout the city centre.

Burberry could not have found a more elegant place to stage an event than Kensington Gardens. Over 1000 guests attended including celebrity supermodels Naomi Campbell and Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley.

Head designer Christopher Bailey created an extraordinary collection named ‘The Patchwork’, mixing sequins, glossy python, parade red, sapphire blue, metallic teal, gunmetal, regimental navy, floral and geometric jacquards.

The show featured both men’s and women’s wear that communicated an air of vitality and strength; highlighted in the array of military style and oversized jackets. The remarkable design work made the entire show exceptionally sophisticated while still retaining a feeling of edgy youthfulness.

Pringle of Scotland attained elegance and beauty through their transformational use of knitwear. This was a collection of perfectly created and perfectly wearable garments, which made you feel completely at peace.  The runway radiated a special kind of warmth and effortless style, a chic sense of simplicity that is a true reflection of what Pringle stands for.

The inimitable Vivienne Westwood gave us a spectacular mix of tweed, tartan, crisp white shirts and full on suit’s jackets, combined with flowing chiffon and scrumptious silk.

The powerful philosophy that compels both her as an individual and her brand radiate subtly throughout the show; with one of the models displaying a small badge marked with the junior doctor’s campaign logo, reminding us of Vivienne’s beautiful push for the world to be more aware of climate change.  A striking and genuine show of how to execute true autumn winter style.

Every year London Fashion week also exhibit’s both upcoming and established designers at the British Fashion Council show space in the heart of Soho.  Some of the top talents include Holly Fulton, Georgia Hardinge, Baia bags, Carianne Moore, Obscure Rebellion, Daniella Barros, Carla Pontes, Leanne Claxton and Mayrafedane.

A must see had to be Top Shop’s exclusive Newgen space that introduced a host of original fresh new brands, paving the way for future fashion and future style.  My one to watch in 2017 is copper queen Sadie Clayton.
