More and more skin and haircare products are springing up that incorporate seaweed and ishga was one of the first to do it ten years ago.

The Lewis-borne brand recognised that it contains natural antioxidants known as polyphenols which provide protection against damage to the skin by neutralising free radicals (damaging atoms in the air).

The type it uses - Fucus Serratus Seaweed -  has also been found to regenerate skin cells, promote natural collagen and hyaluronic acid production in the skin.

The latest skincare addition, Hydra+ Marine Cream is packed with goodies for the complexion including anti-ageing hyaluronic acid, prickly pear oil, which is also said to stimulate collagen and Lus Nan Laogh, an ancient Hebridean healing remedy derived from flowers that grow in Lewis.

Rose geranium, frankincense and argon oils deliver essential vitamins and minerals and a delicious aroma.

Skin feels immediately plumped and with continued use there was a definite reduction in my lines and wrinkles. It’s pricey, at £125, but if aesthetic treatments are not for you and you simply want to improve the condition of your skin this is definitely worth a try.

All products are vegan and cruelty free and 99% of ingredients are natural. I’m hoping they soon expand into haircare.
