SCOTLAND will open their campaign in the qualifying tournament for the World Twenty20 against United Arab Emirates at The Grange.

The fixtures have been announced for the competition, which will be staged across eight venues in Ireland and Scotland between July 9 and 26, with the top six sides earning spots for the finals in India in 2016.

Three grounds in Edinburgh will be used along with New Williamfield in Stirling with organisers opting not to make use of any venues in the west of Scotland or Mannofield in Aberdeen.

Scotland have been placed in Pool B alongside Canada, Netherlands, Kenya, Oman and UAE. Ireland, going for a hat-trick of titles, are in Pool A with Nepal, Hong Kong, Jersey, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Namibia and the USA.

The teams that top the two groups will automatically qualify for India 2016, while the sides that finish second and third in each of the two groups will play cross-over matches with the two winners joining the table-toppers for the finals.

The losing sides of the two play-off matches will then play the fourth-placed sides from each of the two groups with the winners completing the 16-team line-up for next year's extravaganza.
