The acting head teacher of Inverness Gaelic Primary School is to be given another job, after she failed to be made the full-time head because she was not a Gaelic speaker.

Annika Jansson has been acting head of of Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis (Inverness Gaelic primary school) for more than two years, one of three acting heads in the last three years.

She is from Sweden and had applied for the Inverness job on a permanent basis, after it was advertised for a seventh time.

Two of her children are in the school.

The council is now expected to advertise for an eighth time.
