A 19-year-old Scots girl has died suddenly on the Spanish holiday island of Majorca where she had been working.

Nadine Duffy, from Dundee, had spent the summer in Magaluf on the island when tragedy struck.

Her family and friends have paid tribute to the popular girl who had been finding it difficult coming to terms with the death of her best friend in 2010.

Her mother Karen said. "She was beautiful and so stunning and so funny.

"We haven't got our heads round it. She loved going out and was just full of life.

"She was such a tomboy as well. She had played football since she was 10 and even had some trials for Scotland.

"She was meant to be coming home in four weeks. I just don't know what happened.

"She was having such a great time, she loved it out there."

Nadine had two sisters, Shelley, 23, and Leona, 11.

Shelley said her sister had never got over the death of her best friend Ricky Flynn who was killed in an accident in 2010.

She said, "She struggled with Ricky's death for a long time. Missing him was the last thing she posted on Facebook. I only spoke to her at the weekend. She promised she would be coming home because I wanted to make sure she would be home for Christmas."

Ricky Flynn's parents said Nadine was "like part of the family". His mother Alison, 49, said: "I'm absolutely devastated. She was a lovely, lovely wee girl. They went through secondary school together. Time stood still for her as it did for us. She was part of our pain as well."

Ricky's sister Kelsey, 22, said: "Every time I spoke to her it was about Ricky. She said I don't understand how everyone else can seem to move on."

Nadine had played football for Celtic Girls Tayside for over three years.

Dundee United footballer John Souttar posted on Twitter: "Heard the horrible news this morning. Thoughts are with her family."

A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: "We are aware of the death of a British national in Magaluf on Tuesday. We are providing consular assistance."
