A man who died following a two-car crash has been named by police.

Alasdair Cochrane-Dyet, 85, was driving a Skoda which was in collision with a Seat on the A90 near the Petterden slip-road near Dundee at about 1.45pm on Friday afternoon.

Mr Cochrane-Dyet, from Kirriemuir, Angus, was cut free by firefighters and taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The 71-year-old woman driving the Seat car was also taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and treated for minor injuries.

Police Scotland appealed for information about the crash.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal as is the case with all sudden deaths.
