A NURSE has been suspended over her "aggressive and uncaring" attitude - including claims that she twisted a patient's ear until it started bleeding.

Brigitte Catherine Coupar, who worked at Drummohr Nursing Home in Wallyford, East Lothian, is said to have been "rude, abusive and uncaring" towards patients.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) heard there was a string of evidence which shows she had caused patients distress.

Ms Coupar, who registered 35 years ago, has been suspended by the NMC for 18 months while a probe into her behaviour is carried out.

Ms Coupar was sacked by her employer and home operator HC-One after an internal investigation.

A spokesman for the nursing home said: "Nothing is more important to us than the health, safety and well-being of those we support.

"As soon as concerns were raised, we acted immediately to suspend the nurse, carried out an investigation and subsequently dismissed her."
