A charity set up to take people with dementia on walks in Scotland's parks has been awarded a £100,000 funding boost.

The social enterprise Dementia Adventure will use the funds to help train its volunteers and expand a programme of outdoors experiences for those affected by the condition.

The grant, from the People's Postcode Trust was in recognition of research showing green exercise can benefit people with dementia.

Dementia Adventure said participants had noted reduced levels of stress, anxiety and aggression and reported clear improvements in sleep, appetite and verbal expression.

Neil Mapes, director, said: "The support of players of People's Postcode Lottery will ensure our innovative approach reaches many more people looking for a positive way to live with dementia."
