RADIO 2 Breakfast Show host Chris Evans will broadcast live from the Normandy beaches on the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The show is part of the BBC's coverage of the anniversary of the June 6 attack which saw more than 156,000 Allied troops storm the beaches of France in 1944.

In the week leading up to the anniversary, Sophie Raworth will present four shows featuring testimony from veterans who crossed the channel that day and the memories of local people who witnessed the invasion.

Huw Edwards will present the BBC's coverage on the day when surviving veterans, now in their 80s and 90s, travel to Normandy to take part in a memorial service.

A service of remembrance will also be broadcast live from Bayeux Cemetery.
