A incident involving inmates in a residential area of a prison has ended following intervention by staff.
It is understood some inmates had been refusing to leave an area of HMP and Young Offenders Institute Grampian in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.
Police were called to the scene in the prison's Ellon Hall at around 8.50pm last night.
The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) said the incident was over by 11.30am today.
An SPS spokesman said: "The incident at HMP Grampian has now concluded following staff intervention."
There was some damage to fixtures and fittings but no reports of any injuries.
All staff are accounted for.
Ellon Hall accommodates around 50 people but it is not known how many inmates were active participants in the incident.
Police Scotland said they were at the scene to support the prison service.
The new HMP & YOI Grampian began admitting its first prisoners at the beginning of March.
It replaced HMP Aberdeen and HMP Peterhead.
