FORMER crewmates of the Royal Yacht Britannia put their uniforms back on and returned to duty to celebrate the illustrious ship's 69th anniversary of being incorporated into the navy.

Ex-crewmen Steve Barlow and David Bateman, front, were among those taking part.

The Royal Yachtsmen, or Yotties, as they were affectionately known, will work alongside the ship's current maintenance team until Thursday, speaking to visitors about what life was like for the 240 crew while the yacht was in service. The yacht is a five-star visitor attraction at Leith.

Chief executive Bob Downie said: "We welcome the Yotties back; our visitors love to hear their stories."
