TWO Scottish international rugby players have appeared in court charged with assaulting another rugby player in Glasgow's west end.

Rory Hughes, 21, and Ryan Grant, 28, are alleged to have assaulted Glasgow Hawks player Ally Maclay on Great Western Road, on October 27, last year.

Hughes and Grant, who both play for Glasgow Warriors, appeared in private at the city's Sheriff Court charged with assault to severe injury. Hughes also faces a charge of breach of the peace.

They made no plea or declaration and were granted bail and they are expected to appear at court at a later date.
