A teenager who got into difficulty while swimming in a river has died in hospital.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the River Nith near Dumfries at about 7.30pm last Wednesday.
Scott Couper, 15, had been swimming with six other friends near Carnsalloch Gardens, Kirkmahoe, when it is believed he suffered problems while under the water.
He died this morning at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, Police Scotland said.
